這幾天在作英文報告，關於看電影學英文的，於是乎就挑了我很愛的Alfie來寫
作了一些英文的research...
雖然不是什麼曠世巨作，但是其實自己是還滿得意的啦，所以放上來跟大家分享一下！




Glossary of words in Alfie (58min～1hr 32min)

剛剛有點閃神 
(這邊有趣的是場景剛好是alfie在街道上騎著車,用交通號誌signal的雙關)

字面上是說他正往上爬
但雙關是在於他正要搭電梯向上,同時這次拍拖上的女人也是上流社會的


outstayed his welcome.
停留超過他的被歡迎時間,意思是說待太久了

造訪之意

法文,低胸上衣(唸起來很好聽很美haha..)


You know, for someone so very young, you're terribly wise.
字面上就是說她很聰明,但實際上更是在稱讚她看起來年輕

Poison本意是毒,但這裡指的是酒

勇猛陽剛的(外表)

很懂得流行的人


cocky
趾高氣揚的,玩世不恭的


That it takes one to know one.
有點像是說知己知彼,知彼知己

就是bathtub浴缸


scene of the crime
犯罪現場,順帶一提的是美國知名影集CSI就是crime scene investigation

原意就是變濕,但這裡是指洗澡,
可是最有趣的是下一幕畫面就是alfie站在雨中抽煙,不得不佩服導演的安排巧思

約克夏布丁,這是英國人很愛吃的甜點

直接說重點


breezy.
Breeze是微風的意思,而breezy加了y引伸作談笑風生的

這裡的dumping girls是指甩掉女生或是拋棄女方
這段對話其實很經典
alfie想裝作不知道該怎麼提分手一事,卻被單單一句話著實地打了嘴


I'm already gone
字面上是我已經走了,而她想表達的是我心已死,就當作是我已經不在了吧!


But even when you know it has to end...
when it finally does...
you always get that inevitable twinge:
Have I done the right thing?
twinge是疼痛,尤其指內心的苦痛
個人覺得這段談話很發人醒思


Nikki was a showstopper
Showstopper一個人太棒了贏得觀眾熱烈掌聲而使演出中斷
這裡說nikki實在是毫無疑問的太正了!


I used to think that was a load of bollocks
Bollocks是鬼扯,這邊是說alfie原本以為”別只看長相”只是個鬼扯言論陳腔濫調


It's water under the bridge
像是橋下流過的水,過去的就讓她過去吧
其實這系列對話充滿了bridge,包括後面的Run to the bridge也是為了呼應吧
等於是用橋和河水來作為alfie對一段段不真誠的關係的比喻


You never cease to amaze
Cease停止,此是指你從來沒有停止驚奇而不使人驚愕過


dropping by
drop by順道拜訪,這邊有”沒有通知”,”突然造訪”或”不請自來”的意思


-I never meant to hurt anybody? But you do, Alfie.
這段堪稱經典句,有時大家都自以為是無心的,卻往往已經對對方造成莫大的傷害


shoehorn yourself into the situation?
Shoehorn是鞋把,意思是把自己塞進鞋子塞進這的狀況,也就是說負起責任

詭計多端,在別人後頭捅一刀的低賤卑鄙小人

Unzip就是拉下拉鍊,也就是說拉下拉鍊前先三思,別再讓人懷孕了

跑過橋,此指不理事情逃避掉直接跳過


have knocked me for a bit of a loop.
像是迴圈一樣不斷打擊我,意思就是說的確有影響,而且影響還滿深滿長遠的


I do want to extend an offer to maybe have a go at it for a bit,
想要更深一步的交往關係


Commitment issues.
承諾議題,就是關於”給承諾”


-You know what, she's adventurous.
-Frivole.
這句和下面這幾句很有趣,是Alfie在挑花送給Liz的時候
為了形容她而和花店老闆用了許多很不一樣的形容詞在對話
Frivole是音樂用於風格的術語,表示輕浮的


I'm thinking Dolce Vita.
Dolce Vita是一個義大利語的詞語,意思是指「好的生活」
它也有可能指以下其中一項作品:
Dolce Vita (甜蜜的生活),義大利電影導演費德里科•費里尼在1960年的作品
Dolce Vita亦有可能是Christian Dior的一香水品牌


A little mischievous. You know, cheeky? - Avalanche
mischievous淘氣, cheeky厚臉皮的,調皮的
Avalanche雪崩,有點像是指太調皮到可能雪崩的誇飾法


with a touch of mio amore.
a touch of次是指添加一點點
mio amore法文,意思是我的愛!


They made my evening
讓我的夜晚更美好


-What's he got better than me?!
-He's younger than you.
這兩句簡單的對話,我覺得真的是本片的經典!
沒想到原本最引以自傲的年輕,在遊玩了人生之後卻已經再也不值錢了


I've gotta admit, I didn't see it coming.
我必須承認我沒看到它來,其實是說我必須承認真的沒料到


She caught me off-guard
她攻我於不備


they have this quiet way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it.
總在不預期的時候靜悄悄的來襲


Ironic
諷刺意味的


Calendar word.
